I'm in favor of it, and not as a deterrent, as a punishment. In this day and age if the prosecution cannot procure DNA evidence during a conviction, you are not eligible, as there can be no doubt whatsoever. An admission of guilt is not, by itself, sufficient enough to be put to death.

There are some people who do not deserve to live after their crimes, but there must be no doubt of their guilt.

I think it should be used sparingly and only in cases where there is absolutely no doubt of guilt but, yes, some people simply don't deserve to live after what they've done to others.

I break with the right on this. I don’t favor abortions, which means I also don’t favor purposely taking a life away unless it is in self defense. No matter what someone has done the death penalty is still wrong. Personally, I think life in prison without the possibility of parole is a much harsher sentence anyway. I also think we need to do a much better job of taking these people off the streets before they actually commit murders. Then the “victims” would actually still be alive.

Here's where I see a huge difference:
A baby in the womb is a completely innocent.
Someone who commits some heinous crimes is NOT.
