My long-term view is that America is a goner.
Dead.
We're kind of on life support right now but we've got some great surgeons doing great work to keep our heart beating.
But we're increasingly lazy and stupid and, perhaps most importantly, ignorant about our history and culture. Young people today, by and large, don't have a clue. Witness polling that shows that socialism is as populare or moreso than capitalism.
The onslaught of illegal and often unwanted aliens is yet another nail in the coffin. Many of them have zero interest in assimilating to American culture, learning our language or history. A nation with too many of them cannot stand.
I won't be around 20 years from now but by then I think America will be unrecognizable.
