The One Weird Trait That Predicts Whether You’re a Trump Supporter

And it’s not gender, age, income, race or religion.

If I asked you what most defines Donald Trump supporters, what would you say? They’re white? They’re poor? They’re uneducated?

You’d be wrong.

In fact, I’ve found a single statistically significant variable predicts whether a voter supports Trump—and it’s not race, income or education levels: It’s authoritarianism.

That’s right, Trump’s electoral strength—and his staying power—have been buoyed, above all, by Americans with authoritarian inclinations. And because of the prevalence of authoritarians in the American electorate, among Democrats as well as Republicans, it’s very possible that Trump’s fan base will continue to grow.

My finding is the result of a national poll I conducted in the last five days of December under the auspices of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, sampling 1,800 registered voters across the country and the political spectrum.

Simply stated, Trump supporters love that Trump is a strong man. He doesn't back down or listen to anyone. He does what he believes is the right thing and doesn't take no for an answer.

Perfect example of this kind of mentality is what happened today. At the cabinet meeting"

When asked by a member of the press about reports that some members of Trump's Cabinet are displeased with Musk's power and DOGE's work, Trump disputed it. 'Anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are, we'll throw them out of here. Anybody unhappy?' the president asked.

No one said anything.

Now here is the question I would like Trump supporters to answer:

If Trump is truly a strong man that doesn't kowtow to anyone, why is he allowing Putin to "call the shots"? Why isn't he being the strong man and telling Putin "Back off or else"?

We all know that Putin invaded Ukraine without provocation and targeted and killed tens of thousands of innocent people. This is a blow against freedom and humanity and if Trump supports that, he should be a strong man against Putin. Instead, he is letting Putin call the shots.

When he CAN'T be in control, he bends? Is that being strong or being fake (a con man)? Aren't we the strongest military in the world by 10 times?

That's a dishonest and insincere question. The very fact that Putin responds to Trump is solely because he's a strong man. The fact Russia didn't invade Ukraine during Trump's first term shows he was a strong man.

Nope. He is letting Putin walk all over him while tRump makes cow eyes and kissy faces at him.

Yet Trump never forced an experimental biological agent on anyone as Biden did on anyone who worked for a company that did business with the feds. Trump wasn't forcing social media companies to censure political opposition like Biden did. Trump didn't use lawfare to unfairly attack his political opposition for things nobody else had ever been indicted for as felonies, Biden did. Trump never forced intelligence officers to lie and sign off on that lie as Biden did with the 51 intelligence officers who lied their collective ass off about the laptop from hell.

Biden was the most corrupt, most idiotic, most incompetent POTUS we have had in modern history.

Democrats have no idea what they're talking about when they compare Trump to Biden, but that's an old story.

As far as his remarks in the cabinet meeting, I would need to see the full context, body language, facial expression, demeanor, vocal intonations etc. to have an opinion about that. The way you expressed it here is absolutely no way to know. It very much sounds like a typical Trump joke or tease though.

As far as Putin calling the shots with anything with Donald J. Trump dream/rave on. Isn't happening. Does Trump know how to negotiate so that all parties feel they're in a win win situation? Yes he does. That's how he manages to get deals when nobody else can.

He damn sure wouldn't get any necessary cooperation from Putin by addressing him or characterizing him as you do.

That's an easy one. Because a strong man is one who gets results without regard to the optics of it. Trump is controlling this entire negotiating process.

I'm not a Trump supporters but we really have no clue what position Trump will take in Ukraine.

He never supports this or that, he only supports what he see's as best for himself.
Correction, you are a Trump Hater. You think a man who missed being assassinated by an inch is "just in it for himself". That is so ridiculous, I can't believe anyone could believe it.

I do not know him so I don't hate him. Hate seems reserved for the true believers.

What is Trump's position on Ukraine?
