President Trump is intent on keeping his promise to end the war. Putin has been promised on more than one occasion in the past that NATO would never expand to include Ukraine. Trump intends to comply with these assurances, despite Zelensky being keen to get NATO membership.

Trump has done nothing thus far. There are discussions and nobody is divulging anything.

And the Bucharest promise of 2008 promised Ukraine membership in NATO and that has been the operating principal for the last sixteen years. The only person promising Ukraine won't be accepted into NATO is Trump and his administration. This is a total reversal of the Bucharest promise.

And Trump has done something so far. He has had a phone call with Putin. They have an in person meeting tentatively scheduled in Saudi Arabia. And through all that he has made concessions, to Russia. They are unacceptable. Hegseth's statement showing a complete willingness to concede territory to Russia. in a sense, rewarding Russia for bad behavior, was a critical mistake.

This is like De Ja Vue all over again. Trump negotiates SURRENDER. Take Afghanistan, he negotiated the peace agreement with the Taliban, leaving out the provincial government of Afghanistan. Now he is leaving out Ukraine in negotiations to end the Ukrainian war. Do you really think things are going to turn out differently this time?
