I Don't Understand Why Democrats Keep Calling For Free Speech

Your post is a perfect example of why this country is in such deep shit trouble. It is because no one wants to listen to the other side, and everyone wants a one-sided conversation.

I think the term is snowflake for someone easily offended.

Honestly, if you don't want free speech, move to an Islamic country, North Korea, China, and a whole litany of other nations where speech is limited.

By the way, and this applies to all those like you, if you don't like free speech, what the hell are you doing on a political board?

Did you not read the article!? These people are downright dangerous and violent people!! This is what happens when there's no line drawn!! All these people involved should be locked up forever if not put down as people are feeling that their safety is at risk here!!

Any threats of violence has never been classified as free speech. Simple offensive speech has been and should continue to be.

Yeah but technically this isn't a direct threat but these people should still be prosecuted for this.

There limits for free speech, just like every other constitutional right. In some cases, what you say can be prosecutable, hate speech for instance. In other cases, you can say stuff like Kimmel did, but there can be associated penalties, like getting fired or suspended or sued. You can face consequences for violating somebody else's right to privacy or saying something on private property. We do have laws for slander and libel.

In this country there's no law against saying something stupid, or something offensive in some way that another person of group takes offense at. The military for instance can court-martial your ass if you say or do something that is perceived to be detrimental to good order and discipline by denigrating the president or superior officers. So yeah, you can say shit but you can also be held accountable for it.

If we ban all speech that makes someone uncomfortable, then we would not be speaking at all.

People say stupid, crass, disgusting and despicable things all the time, but we don't criminalize them, save for certain exceptions. I mean, if saying stupid, crass, disgusting, and despicable things were made illegal, this Board wouldn't last 60 seconds.

So are you okay with the fact that college kids at this campus feel threatened by this?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
I don't see any exceptions here for shit you disagree with or think is hateful.

You want to murder people. Your speech should be ended first.

People like this I want legally executed as they're dangerous.

These people already had a history of violence though. I thought that you of all people would have realized that.

The college can limit what its students place or hang on their property. if the college really thinks the students are being threatened, they can remove the signs. Political speech always makes some people uncomfortable. The founders recognized that and put in place the First Amendment.
