I don't get it. Do republicans even acknowledge the colossal mess of our nation's infrastructure?

We have like 100 times the land mass of Sweden too. Who gives a shit about Sweden?

Wow...you don't even realize you supported my point.

Now that IS funny.
You're right. I dont realize it. Because I didnt.
Why is Sweden an apt comparison to the US?

I'm guessing you don't believe any country is an apt comparison to the US, because if you acknowledged any were you'd get trapped.
If you cannot make your case based upon the merits of the US system of governance, making a comparison to other, dissimilar systems, isn't gong to help you. It has nothing to do with traps, but your belief that we can spend and do exactly as other countries, all the while ignoring that we're the best economy in the world vs their not so good economies.

Stick with just fixing things in this country and let the world do what the world does.

So the US cannot be compared to any other country on earth? Why is that?
Of course they can be compared. The same way that apples can be compared with oranges. Both are fruits from trees, both are round, both provide a fraction of the necessary nutrients humans need.

The US is a country, like others. It has people, like others. It has roads, like others. It has governmental accountability like.....oh, wait.....

Even if we don't have "the best", we should be a lot higher up on this list...We are a nation of drivers whereas Sweden has a strong public transportation system. We spend the same as fucking Sweden?

Are you simply not paying attention. That's the whole freaking point. Sweden is tiny compared to us. They have an excellent public transportation system, unlike the US which is a nation of automobile drivers. We spend the same amount of money on our HUGE driving country as teeny tiny Sweden does.

When you're spending more on your military than most of the rest of the world combined, and when you're defending other countries interests at your expense,

and when those countries can use the amount they are saving on defense, at our expense, for other interests such as their infrastructure,

then of course, you make your own infrastructure spending a bigger problem.
No.

We do not have to defend against just one country, but all countries. Go look up the armies of our top 5 enemies. They outnumber us nearly 20 to 1.

I don't want a nation that can just barely defend itself when the top priority of government is to protect us. Top priority means it gets top spending priority.

We waste more than Sweden. Get the audit done I suggested and then talk about it. BTW...Sweden does not have our form of government, nor our culture of allowing the government to just do as it pleases. Infrastructure can be fixed without resorting to a false comparison of countries.

I'm also guessing you have to look up the word "apt".

You haven't proven they aren't comparable.

Then why aren't our allies spending the same percentages on their defense?

Let's start with the fact that the Founders didn't even want a standing army (hence the well regulated militia part of the 2nd amendment)

The founders wanted a means to protect this country and provided a mechanism for it. In fact, it is the number one priority of our Federal Government.

Here is an idea...instead of posting what OTHER countries spend on their military, how about we post the sheer number of troops they can put into the field....

The top 10 militarizes in the world not including the United States equals ..31,582,000 compared to our 2,349,750.....that is a 13 to 1 ratio...

No, they are not. You want to take a single issue that is not comparable, and then equate their superiority over us? This is why I do not take you seriously.

Everywhere. Its a global issue, not just a single battlefield.

No, it is not the same. They have a population of 9 million people and a tax burden well over 57%, coupled with a mindset of subservience to government. A function of waste is no determination of superiority, other than they understand better than the progressives of this country that budgeting includes keeping waste down.

You realize that Sweden is a country the size of California with a quarter of California's population?
