I broke my ankle...anyone experience a broken bone in the foot?

I was laying down and decided to unplug the tree before going to sleep. I got up quickly and started towards the tree. Big mistake. I fainted hitting the wooden floor. I have a condition that causes my blood pressure to drop and I pass out (hypo-something) mostly related to dialysis which drops my pressure into the 80's (faint zone) . I need to look up the report to see what its called.

Ambulance was called and off I went. I have a large boot on, that goes to almost the knee. In a lot of pain, taking Tylenol. (don't want to take anything strong or heavy)

I wondered if anyone here had broken a bone in the foot, how did you find a good way to walk in the boot? What tips do you have how to make this a speedy recovery?

Thanks
Its called crutches

I read you have to wear it (boot) up to 9 weeks (yikes!) How long did you wear one? How long does it take for this pain to ease up. :)
Back then (40-odd years ago) I don't remember having a boot, just some sort of soft cast I strapped on. I just wore a tennis shoe with it. The pain lasted a few days but I was in my 20s then.

Hell, I never even missed work because it happened on my seven day break. They just stuck me in the control center where I did not have to walk around much.

You might want to look into this:

These little scooters really helped some navigate around the house efficiently while the broken bone, severe sprain or whatever heals.

This one is listed at under $25 on Amazon:

This one attaches to a walker but there are others with a handle already attached that you'll see offered on Amazon.

Thank you! I was able to finally get the name of what that was thanks to you. My dermatologist doc once came in my room riding on one of those. I had never seen one before. :)

been there, done that. It's the best bone in the body to break!

Broke a bone at different times in both my feet and end of december 2020 I fractured my ankle. I had covid so they did not operate to put in pins I spent 8 months in a Nursing home with orders not to put any weight on it. Now I barely walk cause I got weak from all that. I can take about 5 steps to get in my wheelchair

Oh no man, can you go in a pool?

Don't push it.

I've broken the same small outside bone in my foot (Metatarsal) -- three different times.

good luck to you

I've broken other foot bones too nasty

Oh yeah ...
.... about 46-47 years ago.
Playing on the employer's basketball team against another company's team in the city intra-murals, one of their guy's and I collided going after a loose ball and my right ankle/foot took a good whack. I limped off the court and managed to drive the hour home alright, sort of .

After a couple hours the pain had grown increasingly worse and I asked my (eventually ex-) 'future' wife to drive me to emergency. This about 1-2 AM and she bitched mighty about the inconvenience (should have been a warning seen of the future to come.).

They put this cast on that was open toes almost up to my knee, said I had a bone fracture in the ankle. Told me no baths and put a plastic bag over it when showering to keep it from dissolving. It had this rubber plug on the bottom heel to help me walk~hobble around. So I was able to do most of the usual at work.

IIRC it came off about 6-8 weeks later when the fracture had healed. Not much pain, but a real annoyance during the time.

I feel that I should send you an image of the cover of a book that I read back in 1999. In my opinion this title is true and for the record I have taken rather high amounts of this "food" due to its ability to decrease inflammation.

Here is a summary of that book:

Only bone I’ve broken is my arm

It was bad enough but foot seems like it’d be much worse, much more limiting

My daughter had surgery on her foot and went back to her work in a factory using one of those knee scooters. It is still in the garage in case she needs it again.
