Zone1 I am stepping away from Judaism

too bad the desert religions are so concerned w/ human life when that life is purposefully destroying all other life and habitat on planet earth.

- as they claim they are heavenly while persecuting their sabbath when jesus told them to keep it holy.
So which religion should everyone follow?

What other people do for their religious expressions of faith is not my business. I could'nt care less whatever people do with what they call faith. That being said, you are openly and brazenly an idolator by choice. I have no problem with you throwing your life in the trash seeking eternal life by doing exactly what God has forbidden under penalty of death. :113:You claiming that you are not an idolator and that your religious practice of seeking spiritual life from bread made by human hands does not result in death, contradicts every bible written in every language on this planet.

Your lie requires correction lest you deceive someone sincerely trying to understand and find God

Think of it as a public service announcement.

Does that help?
But according to you only the Jewish people aren't idolaters. So should everyone convert to Judaism?

According to 1 John 3:4-10 only those who do what is right are the children of God.
Then there must be no children of God because no one does right all the time. Especially you.

Passive aggressive much?
What I find hilarious, when I posted the one he is objecting to, I was laughing, giggling even, and poked fun back at him. But he tells me he knows I was angry. Makes one think. Had he been trying to make me angry? Was he angry so he reflection of the mirror of himself back onto me? When I noted I hadn't been angry, he doubled down that I was angry. Interesting. Now I am shaking my head (still smiling) and he'll probably diagnose me as sad and depressed to point of being suicidal! Got to love those who think they can diagnose over the internet. Makes one wonder how good they are at diagnosing real life situations.

I once came across this quote: Leave comedy and joking to those who know what they were doing. I once joked with a class and they looked at me blankly, so I said, "Yes, I know. I should leave comedy and joking to those who know what they are doing." The class solemnly nodded and someone piped up, "You really should." Which broke the rest of the class up. (Obviously, that kid knew what he was doing!)

Every argument you make is a moral argument.

it is you Saint Ding that is saying that God is a landscape artist. Can’t you back up the carnal relationship you say you have with the God of Abraham so much that you think you can speak for him.

Why can’t you answer a simple question?

More than anger, it seemed like you were calling in some reinforcement. I would welcome Ding because he cant's bear to stay on topic and on maintaining decent behaviour with anyone who challenges his beliefs. Do you know why he can't allow his POV to stand as representing his beliefs.
I think it's the same reason why you felt you could do better with his input. I don't think there's any Christian on this forum who could add anything positive to your arguments. Rather, any additions to your POV just bring in more contradictions.

I think you would be wrong to invite his input. Ding would destroy all the progress that we've found possible between us.

Ding needs a concluding answer to the bible stories, while you and I are content to leave it to one's own opinion, as the Catholic church suggests must be the only conclusion.

And now I'm left with nothing on which to disagree, until you or Ding create something. Perhaps that's what he means when he keeps obsessing about me being passive aggressive?

Never crossed my mind.
I think I've defused all the points on which we could disagree my friend. If you're not going to raise a new one then I guess I'll have to try.

That's the reason why I suggested that you ask me for answers to the puzzle that needs many others who hold the missing pieces to contribute. I have some answers that can energize the discussion.

EDit: One small point that I've forgot to ask you about: Why do you care what any atheists think?
Answer me that and then I'll answer the same question for you.

I've already answered it many times. I collect perspectives. I take interest in thoughts and conclusions of others. Both my grandfather and husband, for various reasons, question the existence of God. In passing on, they both feel the only thing they have to offer God: As they cannot believe, the only truth they can offer Him if He does exist, is that they didn't pretend to believe when they could not. Both tried.

And so Ding and Meri, how does this work for you?

The Catholic church proclaimed that the flock could believe whatever they chose to believe on the bible stories, and particulary on Genesis. That is, as long as they believed that the god created everything. (we don't need to open that can of worms on how the two could be possible?)

That's where was are now on the questions and we're all quite happy with leaving it at that.

Many years ago (30?) Meri's granny understood that many of the bible stories were bogus and she wasn't afraid to say so. That understanding was then adopted by Meri, and apparently by Ding too. To be commended for being modern Christians!

And so what's left to debate?

Well, except that all the other Christians and Jews are left holding an empty bag.

Is? ........ the rest of your thoughts?

I think I'm being too generous in taking that as an answer, however.............

To the question: It matters to me that I debate the question of there being a god because I know that the tremendous harm it causes, far outweighs any good it can or has done. And as to religion doing good for humanity, there is none that couldn't have been done without religion.
And in fact, the rest of the world teeters on nuclear armageddon on account of religious dogma.

Making abortion a crime (i.e. misdemeanor) does that.

6 weeks / misdemeanor - who's the sinner.

they claim a 6 week holiday before the religious zealots have to begin their persecution of pregnant women. bing.

- have to wonder how long the 6 weeker's will last before the zealots turn on them ...

Wars are not over religious dogma. Wars are about wealth, territory, and power.

Agreed on that too!
Can we at least agree that religions justify wars?

OBL on 911.

I really don't think there's anything left on which we disagree, and then find common ground. Half of the believers have even thrown out baby jesus with the bath water.

He's intentionally trying to make you angry. It's a game to him. He's just not very good at it. You handle him well.

Timing is everything, not just in jokes but life in general.

How many times do I have to tell you I'm no saint?

If you're wanting a response from me on something else you might want to rephrase your posts because I have to stop at you calling me saint ding. I wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong opinion of me. I'm no saint.
