In her first UK interview, Harris said she would "possibly" be president one day and was confident there will be a woman in the White House in future.

Making her strongest suggestion to date that she will make another presidential bid in 2028 after losing to Donald Trump last year, Harris dismissed polls that put her as an outsider to become the Democrats' pick for the next election.

Speaking to Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Harris also turned her fire on her former rival, branding Trump a "tyrant", and said warnings she made about him on the campaign trail had been proved right.

The Democrats have a long history of "Shooting their wounded". They not only don't rerun failed candidates, they don't rerun people who failed in the primaries as a rule.

The guys with the highest profiles right now are Pritzker and Newsom.

And do not underestimate the possibility that the GOP will screw up. If the economy goes to hell or even merely back to what it was under Obama, then the democrats have a shot.

History tells us that a one-party gov't isn't a good idea. You need an opposition party to the one in power to constrain the majority party from going too far one way or another. That is why the filibuster is greatly needed, cuz sooner or later the shoe is on the other foot if you get my drift.

True. If Trump gets GDP 3% or better with inflation near 2%, and unemployment still low, and the stock market still rising, it will be tough for democrats to gain on Trump's 44% approval. Democrats still are on the 20% side of 80/20 issues.

And do not underestimate the possibility that the GOP will screw up. If the economy goes to hell or even merely back to what it was under Obama, then the democrats have a shot.

The economy should be fine, unless Republicans keep borrowing and the dollar crashes, raising the top rate to 40% and eliminating the capital gains tax break should keep the dollar safe.
But Republicans can screw-up, such as letting the ACA subsidies expire and 41m Americans cancel their healthcare coverage. Republicans can rename the ACA "Trumpcare" if they make the subsidies permanent, and use "pay-fors" like the $200b in DOGE savings to fund them. Republicans never learn that every vote matters.

We can agree to disagree here. Once you eliminate the filibuster for specific reasons, the opposition enlarges it to whatever they want when their turn comes up as the majority party. IMHO, the tyranny of the minority is not as dangerous as the tyranny of the majority if they also control the WH. Do not lightly dismiss the possibility that one day a democrat will be in the White House and they will control Congress. If they can do whatever they want with only 50%+1, then it's Katy bar the door.
