How can you live in a nation and deny people their rights to exist in the spirit of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence?
Nobody—at least on my side—is trying to deny anyone's right to exist.
We just don't want our mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and other female loved ones to be compelled to share restroom and dressing facilities with creepy male perverts. And there is nothing in the Declaration of Independence, nor in the Constitution, that suggests that women should have to put up with such violations of their safety and modesty.
Straw man fallacy, red herring fallacy – more ignorance and bigotry from the right.
The Fifth Amendment’s Liberty Clause guarantees each American the right to decide for himself how best to conduct his life, to express himself as an individual, and to express his individual liberty, immune from unwarranted attack by government.
And the 14th Amendment’s Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses prohibit state and local governments from likewise violating the right of citizens to engage in free expression and individual liberty.
The state of North Carolina has sought to disadvantage transgender Americans for no other reason than who they are, predicated solely on fear, ignorance, and hate.
And to conceal this bigotry and hate state lawmakers and their apologists on the right contrived this ridiculous ‘restroom’ façade, yet another example of the demagoguery and propensity to lie common to most on the right.
