It's not a president's decision to make...

an area hit by a hurricane automatically qualifies for assistance. If a president was no longer living and breathing a hurricane hit area would receive federal assistance/federal funds.
It is a President you don't like who will do his best for Floridians.

whatever your beef is with Florida I could careless. I don't live in Florida. I'm going to put you on ignore. For some reason you're not going to stop hurting people as they are going through a lot at this time.

Stop being an idiot, you whiner. The US guv is going to do its best for FL despite stupid MAGA.

Houston, New Orleans, Mississippi, Florida...
We have been through that so many times.

Spoiled Food
All frozen food spoils after two days of no electricity, but those of us who go through lots of hurricanes we know to get the meats washed and on the grill right away. As most of your restaurants will not have any electricity. They will be closed. We also do not stock up on very much food at all during hurricane season. Usually a Chick-fil-A will get a generator up and going for everyone to eat at, so will a gas station. Everyone will be looking for ice for a cooler to create a make-shift fridge, and this is needed if there are babies and small kids to keep the milk cold. On the bright side each address that requests help will get about $750 from FEMA to replace food no worries there.

Depression
After about 3-4 days without electrical power sadness and depression will start to set in, so you all go cheer each other up. "Pray" The lights will come back on be patient.

Cooling/Warming Centers
Take advantage of these locations that have generators to where you can charge your devices daily. This southeastern situation is unique as there are several states without electricity at the same time, so it will take some time.

Fallen Trees
Those with fallen trees. It costs some where between $1,200-$1,400 to get one cut up and removed off of your property. If trees fall on the street the city will clear it, but they will not clear any tree debris from your private property. You must first get it cut up and placed on the side of the curb. If the tree falls half way on your property and the street, you pay for the part on your property to be cut up.

The dark side
Insurance adjusters are going to screw you over. This is where you learn that like a good neighbor State Farm will not be there for you. They are the devil who has been taking your money, but will not want to help you. Just the facts. You have to fight them maybe even hire a lawyer. Their agents are hired to smoke you which means... scalping you, cutting you up, thinning you out, and smoking you like a buffalo over a flame of fire until there is nothing left in you. They have already increased your deductible so high that you're out of thousands upfront. This is the dark ugly side of being a screwed-over adult. Oh yea... never mention the word "Mold" to an insurance agent or else your claim will be denied. Other than that, good luck in the devil's den.
That perfectly sums up my experience in Myrtle Beach during Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Three days without power, fallen trees everywhere. One restaurant had a limited menu, but after downtown Myrtle Beach, my favourite restaurant had a full menu. The insurance company paid like 300 dollars for five thousand dollars worth of damage. In fact my power outage was from of course, a fallen tree. My way of passing the time was flushing legos down the toilet. And no, my water doesn't use electricity unless it is hot water.

Some good news. "Update" weatherman

No copycat storm coming into the gulf. It will be a "tropical storm" a rain event and no hurricane.

1. My substance is all that is neded (post 94)

2. Asylum needs to be abolished.
As a signatory to the 1967 Protocol, and through U.S. immigration law, the United States has legal obligations to provide protection to those who qualify as refugees. The Refugee Act established two paths to obtain refugee status—either from abroad as a resettled refugee or in the United States as an asylum seeker.

this makes post #94 moot.

Congress has to allocate the funds first. FEMA is a unicorn in terms of its budget. So far as I know, it is the only agency that has two different budgets. The one congress approves is rather limited without a ton of money for relief and is geared toward normal day to day operations and some very limited emergency aid. Congress then goes back and allocates specific new money based on the individual disaster event(s) scaled to the anticipated costs.

Good for them I guess. The problem with Helene for western NC was the same problem we had with Michael--it wasn't the intensity of the storm when it got here. It was that it slammed into a cold front when it did. When that happens the amount of water being dumped out of the sky is insane. We were getting an inch of rain every ten minutes on average.

Plus, my part of Virginia often gets its weather coming in from that area of North Carolina and we had a fair amount of rain in the week or so before Helene so I assume the ground was already pretty soft there before the tropical storm arrived.

A lot of people will not be online and in this site today because of no electricity.

In July 2024 we had to deal with Hurricane Beryl coming through. That thing tore up the city of Houston it was a mess. We were with out electricity for weeks. I'm talking hundred degree weather and no electricity. We have suffered a lot. Mentally we cannot take on another storm this year. I'm sure New Orleans and Florida feel the same. Without electricity we could not use the computers/internet at home for very long. None it works properly without electrify. Batteries run down super fast.

" More than 3 million without power: The remnants of Helene continued to knock out power for several states across the eastern US on Saturday morning, with nearly 3.3 million customers left in the dark in South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and Ohio, according to PowerOutage.us."

This is what I meant by in my earlier post about depression setting in after so many days without electricity.

When will the power return? Weary Carolinas residents long for relief after Helene's fury

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — The weary and worn residents of Julianne Johnson's neighborhood in Asheville have been getting by without electricity since Hurricane Helene tore through the Southeast last week and upended their lives. They've been cooking on propane stoves and using dry erase boards to keep up with local happenings while wondering when the lights would come back on.

Johnson, who has a 5-year-old son and works for a land conservation group, received a text from Duke Energy promising her power would be restored by Friday night. But as of midday, utility poles and wires were still draped at odd angles across the streets, pulled down by mangled trees.

“I have no idea what’s next,” said Johnson, whose family does have some power thanks to a generator. “Just the breadth of this over the whole region, it’s kind of amazing.”

The storm damaged water utilities so severely and over such a wide area that one federal official said it “could be considered unprecedented.” Repairs could take weeks.

A Prayer For Those Involved With Hurricane Helene

Father God in heaven thank you Lord, for You are Almighty, and we bless Your Holy name. Father God forgive us our trespasses, and all other sins we commit against Your Word. Lord lead and guide us in Your ways, and in Your will for our lives. Father God pour out Your grace and loving kindness on us, and Father give us courage and patience to withstand during this trial. Lord God we need You. Please help us. Father help us get our electricity back on, and clean drinking water. Lord God You know all that we need. Father God have mercy on us and restore us back to all that You have called us to be. Father God we thank You Lord for Your love. We know that You love us, and we say "Glory Hallelujah" for all Your goodness You bestow on us and have stored up for us. It is in Jesus precious name that we pray, Amen.

Tropical Storm Milton forms in the Gulf of Mexico, expected to make landfall in Florida this week

Meanwhile, Category 3 Hurricane Kirk is forecast to bring swells to the East Coast this weekend.

Updated Sat, October 5, 2024, 1:14 PM MDT

Tropical Storm Milton formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and is forecast to bring “life-threatening impacts” to Florida — a state just ravaged by Hurricane Helene — next week.

In its latest advisory, National Hurricane Center (NHC) meteorologists warned the forecast shows the system nearing near “major hurricane strength” when it makes landfall along Florida’s west coast. “An intense hurricane with multiple life-threatening hazards is likely to affect the west coast of the Florida Peninsula next week,” the advisory stated.

It's just exhausting dealing with these hurricane Milton and Kirk.

Milton

Florida is already expected to see rainfall outside of the storm on Sunday and Monday. Heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Milton is forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the hurricane center. “This rainfall brings the risk of flash, urban and areal flooding, along with minor to isolated moderate river flooding,” meteorologists said.

Hurricane Kirk

Outside of Tropical Storm Milton, Hurricane Kirk, currently a Category 3 hurricane, is generating swells that are expected to bring “life-threatening surf and rip current conditions” to the U.S. East Coast by Sunday.

Conspiracy,

Why are these storms hitting only states where the democrats are losing. Why are they hitting states where polls have had Trump leading? Are the democrats creating manmade hurricanes as a way to punish their enemies?

Texas (Houston) - Hurricane Beryl, July 2024
North Carolina - Hurricane Helene, September 2024
Georgia (Atlanta) - Hurricane Helene, September 2024
Florida - Hurricane Milton, October 2024

Since Helene didn't do much damage at all to Florida; two weeks later they get Hurricane Milton. These are all states Trump is leading in. I say they are manmade because of the strange curves that normal hurricanes do not make those strange cut back, cut around, type of curves. Strangely coming from islands and the Bay of Campeche, rather than from Africa as hurricanes normally do.
