Hulk Hogan dead at 71

Was it the HGH? I used love his ring walk song. Too bad, 71 isn’t that old.

Big bulky guys have shorter lifespans than the thin/fit/athletic types. The strain on the heart I think

Acromegaly and associated complications: Long-term exposure to high levels of HGH, either due to a pituitary tumor (acromegaly) or abuse of HGH, can lead to serious and irreversible health problems, including significant cardiac complications like heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmias, and hypertension

Anabolic steroids and HGH are two different things

HGH is popular with older men for its anti-aging properties. A common negative side effect is that it can enlarge internal organs such as the heart, liver, kidneys, intestines, etc.

Anabolic steroids (testosterone) have been shown to correlate with thickening of the heart’s left ventricle.

But the most common cause, by far, of ventricle thickening is high blood pressure. And steroid use raises blood pressure, but studies have shown that if BP is controlled medically while on cycle, there’s no appreciable thickening of heart walls.

If more men would have the foresight to consult with a doctor and get prescribed BP meds while on cycle, there’d be a lot less cardiac trouble

In any event, a 71 year old man suffering a cardiac event is not exactly a rare occurrence nor is it “suspicious”. Automatically assuming Hogan died from his former steroid use is jumping to conclusions. It’s entirely possible he had a heart attack because he was, y’know, 71 and the heart has a shelf life.

70 years is a human lifespan. Nobody gets out alive

"The days of our years are threescore years and ten (70); and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years (80), yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away."

In Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, Bernie Capax a minor character who (through various means) has managed to live 15000 years finally dies in a freak accident he asks Death if he did ‘good’, she replies “You got what anybody gets. You got a lifetime”
