After Trump announced that Kim Jong Un has "backed down", he suddenly looks like even more like an idiot fool now that North Korea has set off a Hydrogen Bomb.

So let's summarize:

Trump has abdicated America's role as world leader of the free nations.
Trump has made enemies of all our friends.

We know Hillary would begin with studying the situation. She would have shored up support from all our former friends. Once she had the support of the entire world she would have a platform to negotiate with both North Korea and China from a position of strength, not Trump style weakness.

Well history and facts might help predict a hypothetical that will (mercifully) never occur (I might be slightly off on some dates):

In '92 North Korea had no nukes. In '94 Bill Clinton negotiated a treaty with North Korea in which they promised not to pursue fissile material. They cheated. They pursued uranium instead of plutonium. In 2000 Dubya knew that they were cheating and refused to negotiate. Until 2004 when North Korea actually detonated a bomb. At which point Dubya ran back to the negotiating table. So I suspect Hillary would negotiate.

North Korea insists it needs a bomb to deter regime change like in Libya and Iraq.

South Koreans pay little attention to Kim's bluster. They are prudently aware but do not panic.

A combination of carrot and stick:

- if you attack US interests we will attack you
- other than that we will not pursue regime change (although we might cyberattack you up the wazoo)
-we will work with our allies on new sanctions and go to they very ends of the earth to stiffen them
-we will not antagonize South Korea this week by threatening them with trade deal withdrawal. That's nuts.

Well we could go by her history. In Libya she violated international sanctions to arm Jihadist extremists so she could crow we came, we saw, he died. In Syria she again armed Islamic extremists to gin up a civil war.
