How should an American Christian respond to a totalitarian takeover by the left through, for example, election fraud? Here is how I believe Jesus wants us to respond. Obey the government (Romans 13: 1-2) and do no harm and, in fact, pray for those that are engaged in fraud (Matthew 5:44). I say "obey the government", provided that they don't command you to do something that violates God's laws, in which case, we must decline (Matthew 22:21). Jesus knew (knows) that this world is doomed (John 2:15-17) and beyond salvation by man alone. We must focus our energies on following Jesus' teachings and on bringing non-believers (Mark 16:15) to him. After all, what good is it to save our democracy (Mark 8:36) but lose a brother or sister's soul? Jesus did not engage in politics nor did he ever encourage his disciples to do so. As difficult as it is, we should emulate Jesus' example. And, besides, vengeance belongs to our father in Heaven! (Romans 12:19) Thanks for reading!
Keep in mind that Jesus did not live in a Democracy. If a totalitarian takeover evolved, I would do what I could (if anything) to nudge it back into a Democracy. What interested Jesus most was people taking care of each other in their own family, in their own small community--the part of the world we live in and engage.

If God wanted Trump to win the election, he would have won the election. Nobody can cheat God. God didn't want Trump to win.
For the most part, I believe God lets us exercise our free will and, accordingly, permits events to take their natural course. He does, of course, intervene at times but that is the exception and certainly not the rule.
Seems odd. Trump supporters claim his presidency was God ordained, but now that his ass is voted out, God doesn't concern himself with such things. Not very consistent is it?
I feel GOD is working on TRUMP, the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, and BIDEN. It is also interesting that the Democrats lost ground in the other branches of our government. It would seem while some didn't appreciate Trump's mouth, they don't feel warm and fuzzy about Socialism either. Biden will have to watch himself. He certainly didn't get a carte blanche mandate from the American Citizens

23 posts marked for deletion.. warnings issued. A couple thread-banned. This is the Religion forum. The topic is faith based approach to dealing with potential political tyranny. Aint about folks diving in here and mocking Christians or Kyle Rittenhouse or anti-Christian meme parades.. There's about 25 Zone 2 forums.. This one is for people of faith to ask question and discuss their faith and how it applies to everything in life.. Respect that. Keep the retail daily stuff out of here please.. Especially the reflexive HATE of people of faith.. Take that somewhere else like General Discuss or if you cant control your hate -- maybe the Flame Zone..

Obey the government (Romans 13: 1-2) and do no harm and, in fact, pray for those that are engaged in fraud (Matthew 5:44). I say "obey the government", provided that they don't command you to do something that violates God's laws, in which case, we must decline (Matthew 22:21).
Unfortunately, our leftist government is already violating God's law, committing wholesale election fraud, harming us greatly, and coercing us to further violate God's law on their behalf, in defiance of President Donald Trump's orders.

Cowards aren't Christians, and nothing the government is telling us to do is Christian.

I don't disagree. There is, however, a Godly way to respond to evil as well as an ungodly way to respond.

Trump did a lot of good. I can't think of any President who got the opportunity to appoint three Supreme Court Justices in one term. That alone is a gut punch to the left and there will be repercussions for many years.

How should an American Christian respond to (their) totalitarian takeover of America?

they have no repentance ... for their crimes, ever.

bs filler and their court - by refusal to vote and forcing the refusal to vote, funny how christians have such selective memories in their glee of tyranny and injustice over innocence. uninterrupted since their 4th century coercion to the present day.

Keep in mind that Jesus did not live in a Democracy.
Ancient Rome had elections and a judicial system much like the modern United States under the administration of Democrat workers today.
Circumcisions, vaccinations, wisdom tooth extractions, tonsillectomies were performed much the same as today for much the same reasons.
Modern medicine is by no means more advanced than that of Galen and Hippocrates

"Render unto Cesar that which....."

I like the idea of "rendering". Used to be a fella coma round with a horse and wagon to pick up offal for rendering......

Maybe it's time to apply the more modern meaning to that word used so casually by Jesus!

Jesus isn't getting in trouble with the law with Cæsar here, nor is he exonerating Cæsar from responsibility for the coinage of money or the accountancy of Rome's tax collection department --- Remember He ate with publicans and sinners.

We are to resist evil.
That's true, and we are not to respond to evil by engaging in evil. And what is evil? Evil is that which goes against God's will.
Well, I know I am supposed to turn the other cheek, but...to be honest..I will have a really hard time doing that. Pretty sure I'm not the only one, either. Even Jesus had a tantrum when he overturned those tables in anger.

Does that answer your question in the OP?

Turn the other cheek doesn't mean we are supposed to ignore. It actually means to become more assured, more, obstinate about your beliefs, insolent or impertinent

IMO it's pretty clear Christians are obligated to support the legitimate government, and with arms if necessary, especially if the 'revolutionaries' intend to murder Christians at the first opportunity. It is a myth Christians are commanded to stand around and do nothing in the face of robbery, murders, and violence against themselves and others. We know the Apostles carried swords, three of them, and one of those who carried one was Peter. It is also rubbish Christians are somehow 'totalitarians', which is of course utter nonsense; free will is very important in the NT theology, and so are individual rights.

That verse on rendering unto Caesar wasn't just some smartass retort. There is no requirement that 'Caesar' was required to be perfect; that is an impossibility and while Christians are inspired to aspire perfection there is no expecatations any will ever be. How many ever achieved it in the OT? The nature of both Hebrewism and Christianity makes neither a good fit for kings and feudalism, but that was the way of the world for most of history, so be it. See David's story for an example in the OT.

That applies to their own neighbors and friendly guests, not rampaging faggots and bandits.
