Cost of a typical offshore drill rig: $20 million to $1 billion
Cost of a typical offshore production platform: $650 million
Cost of a typical oil refinery: $6 billion

So, anywhere from $6,670,000,000 to $7,650,000,000. Split that amongst, say 1,000 worker/owners and they only have to cough up about $7,160,000 each.

It was a refinery. Supposedly the deal fell through because the government changed the terms at the last minute and they were unable to secure financing for 700 million USD.

It would be idiotic to assume they would be paying from their pocket rather than financing the purchase like every other corporation would do.

The authors of the article have a communist leaning slant. So I’m surprised you aren’t more sympathetic to their cause.
