I think most people at some point are mildly interested in it (usually an age-related thing), but it can also become an addiction, in which case there's a serious mental condition where porn is a replacement for something seriously missing in a person's life, and it has little to do with sex.

A true story: Back in the 70's a bunch of us thought it would be fun to take a bag of wine and go see "The Devil in Miss Jones" (the X-rated version). The guys were all agape at the flopping boobs and mega-dicks, but after the movie the girls couldn't stop talking about the story which they had missed completely. Seriously. They kept saying "Story line? What story line?" It was about a prim and proper woman who had always had sexual fantasies and only got to realize them after she died and wound up in Pergatory. After endless sex, she had had enough, but there was no escape.
