And they're far more passionate when discussing socialism in general. Bernie Sanders' candidacy has certainly added a lot of fuel to that fire. And Debbie Wasserman-Schultz' stammering through direct questions on this from Chris Matthews were a signal of things to come.

The Democrats have to deal with the same the thing the Republicans do: Keeping their moderates happy without pissing off the base, and they'll need to come up with a schtick to deal with this issue.

In my view, it's the same as the difference between a democrat and a progressive.

A traditional republican/democrat is significantly more moderate than a conservative/progressive.
