How America became uncompetitive and unequal - The Washington Post

It's a really fantastic article, and it deserves more than the tired ideologically polarized responses. Here's how I fear people will react:
  1. The libertarians: See? This is all proof of how heavy-handed governments enable regulatory capture. We need to eliminate and abolish the Fed, market tampering, etc. etc.

  2. The progressives: See? This is all proof of how evil, selfish, and psychopathic corporations are. We need to create regulations and restrictions so people have better standards of living, can make a fair wage, etc. etc.
They're both right and wrong at the same time.

so why not tell us how we really became uncompetitive and unequal???
