It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. The family itself is so huge that I can imagine the in-fighting going on. Too bad that there was not some royal in his 50's who was popular with all the different groups to take over instead of the front runners right now who are quite old. Maybe a younger one would have more modern ideas.

The deteriorating health of King Abdullah, a son of the founding monarch Ibn Saud, has Saudi royals preparing for a succession battle that will focus mostly on who will be the next crown prince.

AMMAN, JORDAN — The deteriorating health of King Abdullah is casting a shadow over Saudi Arabia, where a growing dispute over succession is dividing the House of Saud and threatening to paralyze Riyadh at a time of mounting internal and external crises.

With 91-year-old Abdullah’s hospitalization with pneumonia Jan. 2, all eyes in Saudi Arabia immediately turned to Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, the king’s 79-year-old half-brother and a former defense minister.

Whether it's in the western countries or other nations.

All wealthy political families have power struggles when the patriarch dies. ..... :cool:

Different countries......one is a democracy and the other a monarchy.

Just like Italy and Mexico are different countries with different laws, but both are majority Catholic. ...... :cool:
