While I guess this makes sense from a business standpoint, it strikes me as not good for the auto world.

Nissan in many ways is a dead-man-walking, with some of its main cars and engines having significant engineering defects, while Honda, at least in my view, has a relatively pure reputation for fine products and almost no mistakes. Even when a Honda doesn't sell well, it is. never because it isn't a good product. And that goes for not only cars, truck, & SUV's, but also their MC's, generators, and lawnmowers.

I understand it but I don't like it.

My Mom's 2015 Nissan is running just fine.

They could get shed of the entire Nissan car/suv line and put decent Honda engines in their mid-sized trucks and they would have something.
What about the ZXs though? :(
And that other one with the 900+HP engine.
Dual turbo 4v/cyl McGimmick.
Yeah, Honda actually pioneered that stuff, but it's not like others haven't taken that technology and done some good things with it.
Less competition is bad. I'd like to see more vehicle startups.
This big corporation stifling innovation is for the birds!

Nissan sells about 27MM Rogues daily.

I wanna find out who makes electric TukTuks, because that's the future.
Where do they have things like that in America?
Hmm..Knoxville. :dunno:

The government top-down pressure to offer EVs is causing the problem and forcing automakers into bad situations

There needs to be some serious deregulation in that sector so we can get some innovation going.

I knew it, I lost the carburetor link. :(

This was in the 80s and this guy did some kind of mod and the car got a lot of miles per gallon and I think it may have involved water.
He did this, and then his patent was bought and shelved.
I'm going to throw out some names people should know:
Tucker
Nash
Studebaker
AMC

Take out the pinhead greenies in government and ev’s MIGHT command 5% of the car market

Regulation is causing all the problems

I never believed the magic carburetor stories

It was real. I knew a dude..A dude that taught me how to bore and balance an engine, and that's who I learned it from.
He did a lot more than that, lemme tell ya! :auiqs.jpg:

I would not say merge, honda has probably 30x the coffer and would just buy them outright

A former CEO of Nissan says this is being forced on Honda by the Japanese government.

Basically an attempt to save Nissan.
I could see that and it would be better than say the US gov bailing out ford if they need it, this is Japan saying, honda buy them so some chinese or korean company does not and keep them here

Sounds correct. Honda is doing well. Nissan is not.
Honda should keep the Rogue and dump everything else. Redo the lines with future models.

RE Nissans I would only buy one built in Japan, not Mexico or the U.S. Same with any foreign built car, only Japan or Korean built. I would never buy anything if its engine and/or transmission was made in Mexico or Red China.
