Halloween weekend turned into a horror show for the domestic box office, with theaters only bringing in an estimated $49 million-$53 million, according to early numbers reported by the Hollywood trade publications—marking one of the worst weekends of the year and capping the worst-performing October since the 1990s.

Well Hollywood, make something people want to see....I've not seen anything in years that would prompt me to go see it in a theater.

I have not been to a movie since the covid and used to be quite the movie theater hound.

Sorta sad to to see that era pass but I'd sooner stay at home with my kicking entertainment system and stream what I want to see.

I'm sorta happy that folks like you are staying away.

I believe well done series like what you might find on streaming services is kicking Hollywood in the balls too.

That and when you see the inevitable fagottry going on you can just skip through it. ;)

I watched the excellent period piece House of Guinness on Netflix and sure as shit there was faggotry but I just skipped through that part....Can't do that at the theater when it's forced upon you.

For most of my life hitting a movie or drive-in theatre was the only way to see a film without commercial interruption. With today's big screen televisions and streaming services there isn't much reason for couples and families not to order a pizza and get their money's worth out of the streaming charges they're coughing up.

I suppose places like IMAX will stick around, otherwise I could see movie houses going the way of record stores.

I'm surprised the 3-screen theater in my AO is still around.

I have never seen a superhero movie. Hollywood has not produced much content in the past 30 years I have considered worthy of watching in a theater. My own take is that with the multiple streaming services out there, from HBO, Netflix, Prime, and now all the networks have their own content, producers have other options. The talent making films is watered down in Hollywood.

The pattern is hard to miss — instead of investing in new stories or unique voices, Hollywood continues to reach back to remakes and sequels to introduce special effects and sequences. The technology has advanced, but imagination seems to have stalled.

The last time I was in a theater was for "The Return of the King."

Have they run out of movies where they can change the lead actor into a woman? Those were instant classics....

It's been a good movie year for content with admissions bouncing back from LY +25% for the first half.

October blew though. My wife and I have a movie subscription and she hates horror so we didnt hit anything. I did catch the Conjuring without her though and will likely hit Black Phone 2.

Recently 2022 is considered one of the best movie years ever:

Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Batman, Prey, The Woman King, X, Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans, Jordan Peele's Nope, and Martin McDonagh's The Banshees of Inisherin, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. A lot of unique stuff that year to go with the franchises.

LOL.....That's the great thing about streaming.....If you find some turd of a "gurl power" movie you can just pass it by.

This one might have possibilities though. ;)

Imagine being so fragile that something like female Ghost Busters really riles you up? Lol. Fortunately I am secure with my dick so I dont cry over movies occasionally featuring a woman.

You have a dick?....Huh, odd that, you post like a whiney woman.

Black Phone 2 sucked. The original was so much better. Part 2 wasn’t realistic at all. Save your money and skip it.

I’m interested in seeing The Running Man and the new Predator movie.

Pretty much why I gave up on Hollywood. None of those sound appealing.

People do not seem to be wanting lovey dovey romance movies that are also dramas as much as in other eras. In fact, on streaming there are hundreds and thousands of movies that are action, sci fi, etc that are woke.

Surprised to hear you say that. Most people liked BF2. I am good at suspending belief so I might be ok. Like it doesnt bother me when the baby sitter runs up stairs instead of out the door. lol.

I am definitely hitting the two you mentioned.

You think, I don't know, people may not like paying to see political and social messaging?
I sure don't.
The last one we went to a theater to see was Aliens:Romulus - and was disappointed as it is absolutely - just a retread of the original Alien - but 1/4 as good.

I thought Romulus was good. Just a revisit of the original and second one for sure but it was a pretty good chase movie.

I honestly think most of you are just getting old and hate everything. It happens.
