Muslims have the same width of political beliefs as everyone else, so being Muslim in no way expresses any sort of political orientation.
Even where Islam overlaps legal beliefs, like Sharia, there still are such wide variation in Muslim interpretation of what Sharia means, as to make it impossible to say what the specific political beliefs of any Muslim are just from them being Muslim.
And NO, the whole point is that the hijab is NOT specifically Islamic.
That is why Amish, Puritans, nuns, etc., also wear the equivalent of the hijab, regardless of what they call it.
The hijab comes from the Old Testament, not the Quran.

The hijab motivation in the Old Testament as well as the Quran, is identically the same, which is female modesty.
It is not at all to identify by religion, and all Jewish and Christian women used to also wear the equivalent of the hijab.
Christian, Jewish, and Muslim women not only all wore it, but all lived in the same region originally.

The turban is a Jewish tradition and convention for example, not Arab or Muslim.
