It's hard to hit a moving object, but if it's hovering it's easier than you think. Not to mention the fact that 12 gauge shot only goes 50 meters before it becomes useless,. It all depends on how close you are. Now a 12 ga slug will travel farther, but it doesn't have as much range as a 30-30, 308, or 30-06.I suspect that would do it, if somebody like me or you and if lucky, even then, due to training. Easy to miss, shooting at flying target, at night, looking up. Duck hunters like 12 gage and 10 gage, even in the daytime, so probably the way to go. Shooting toward the sky in or near a city, has obvious drawbacks, where a miss with a shotgun, not as dangerous with the round come back down.
