You know, I was watching Senator Van Hollen on Fox News Sunday this week and he said something that really struck me. Of course he was defending his boy down there in El Salvador while trying to say that murders committed by illegals were horrific and that he felt really bad about what the victim's families were going through and then added that Laken Riley's murderer was receiving justice for what he did and he just wants this guy to get his due process, like Laken Riley's murderer did.

It must have totally slipped his mind that Laken Riley was dead and it didn't have to happen, but at least the murderer got his due process and was convicted. As you said, neither Laken Riley or her family got due process. He wants us to be glad that after Laken Riley was dead when she didn't have to be, that her killer got due process.

The police had no way of knowing was unarmed and she both refused to stop when ordered to do so by police, but she was actively causing injury to a police officer when shot.

Ashley Babbit was shot and killed while committing a federal crime, and refusing to stand down when ordered by police.

I don't support law enforcement shooting unarmed individuals. If she had been able to get through you pin her against the door and cuff her.

It was tragic. But what you are suggesting wouldn't work. She wasn't alone. There were dozens of people behind her. No way to know who was armed in that crowd. The officer knew colleagues had been hurt already. He also knew that there was nowhere to go from where he was, since a few feet from him civilians where evacuating.

He loses control, civilians will be attacked. As I said tragic. But kind of inevitable. The fact that it didn't turn into a complete bloodbath is a testament to the restraint shown by law enforcement that day. Something they paid dearly for.

In this case. The officer was protecting civilians who were evacuating the chamber a few feet from where he was, from a mob. Babbit wasn't alone she simply was the first trough the breach. Since that mob posed a threat to both the officers and the officers deadly force was authorised.
