Joe is old enough to have been told that expression. NOW, everyone is being pushed into college, and as a result, the value of a degree (unless it’s in something like engineering, which the mediocre kids stay away from) has been dumbed down.

Boo-effing-hoo. If we committed sufficient resources to vocational training and employment, these things wouldn't be an issue. We don't.

Here's the thing about two generations ago. Two generations ago, there were industrial jobs that poor black folks could do. But most of those jobs were eliminated by automation and outsourcing. Which is why so many big cities in the North are empty shells of themselves. - Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee (although not NYC or Chicago). In fact, the demand for them was so high the South took efforts to stop them from leaving. (For instance, making it a crime to walk along the railroad tracks, which would usually get you put into a sentence of debt peonage)

Now AI is coming for those nice white office jobs, and you all wonder why they vote for the Socialist in NYC.

Well, they would have been wrong, given I graduated from college (first in my family to do so) and then had a very successful career in the US Army.

Of course, I had no interaction with any "guidance counselor" when I was in HS. (I'm not even sure our HS had one.)

Generally speaking, I agree with the Democrats on taxing, spending, and the environment. I agree with the Republicans on crime, race, and immigration. I am not a partisan and an ideologue. I follow the facts where they lead.

I guess it depends on one’s priorities. To me, it is essential that we keep Democrats out of office due to their embrace of Islam and tolerance for antisemitism (if not outright enabling it).

Did you know that the leftist, pro-Muslim UCLA paid for the metal barriers erected for their “No Jew” zones? Trump sued them, and won.

Did you know that CUNY had as an objective to rid the entire senior administration (which numbers around 80) of all Jews, and they eventually did? Think of it: a city made up of 20% Jews, who on average are more likely to have advanced educations, and not a single Jew out of 80?
