I might pick Charlie for a bunch of reasons.

He might be a faster runner.
He might be a better fielder.
He might be more charismatic and someone whose merch I can sell, if my team is in a city with Charlie's demographic.

You want to make the entire selection based on a single criteria (SAT/Batting Average). It just pointed out three other criteria that a club owner MIGHT want to take into consideration.

Now, to totally beat this analogy to death, for a long time, blacks weren't allowed in Baseball at all. Not because they weren't good players, but because the white bigots didn't want to compete against them.

No one alive today was involved in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Slavery is alive and well in Africa and other parts of the third world, especially in places like the oil kingdoms of the middle east.
