Here's The Bleak Reality Of Life In The Hamas-Controlled Gaza Strip

Humanity and others. You do realize that even though Israel and Egypt have their 'blockade' of Gaza, Hamas is even more in control over the border crossings.

It escapes me now (the links to the stories I read earlier this week about this), but Abbas has tried to exercise a PA control over the Gaza crossings in an attempt to allow this aid in.

Teddy, now, we BOTH know that is not entirely true don't we...

If the US orders Israel and Egypt to close the borders they WILL be closed, end of story!

HOWEVER....

The aid isn't there right now... A very small amount of aid that was pledged has actually been made available....

At the moment it's not about who controls the border crossings its about making it available....

If the international community are wary of handing over cash and supplies to Hamas then there needs to be an agreement where a 3rd party can ensure the correct and proper use of the aid being sent into Gaza.

The international community needs to get it's act together and resolve this...

Not if hamas wants to start another war. Not if hamas will not work with abbas to form a unity government. Not if they cannot schedule an election. Not if abbas goes to the UN without hamas support to petition for statehood. Not if the PA or hamas is unwilling to negotiate with Israel.
The global nations do not want to throw good money after bad. They want their investments to improve the situation so the two parts of the palestinians can work for a peace in the region.

The sadness is that this is humanitarian aid that needs to be delivered now...

Aside from those issues mentioned above, there is also the issue of all aid passing through Israel. Not that I am suggesting that Israel will deliberately withhold aid from Gaza but there is a certain responsibility being placed upon Israel to ensure that materials are used for humanitarian purposes.... I am sure that Israel is not so happy with this 'responsibility'....

A solution would be to have a '3rd party' involved, being 'responsible' for the movement and application of aid within Gaza...

Yes there does need to be an election scheduled in Gaza, the sooner the better! Abbas needs to take control... Unfortunately I don't think that Israel particularly want that to happen... Keeping Hamas in Gaza provide Israel with 'opportunities'...

Abbas can go to the UN and petition for Statehood... The US will simply veto it... With or without Hamas... The US will ALWAYS veto it...

However, aid is needed now, putting in a '3rd party' to oversee the operation and ensure that Hamas is using materials for reconstruction and not tunnels is a no brainer...

So the Israelis planted all the military installations in the civilian areas of gaza, planted the rockets in UN schools, fired qassams from hospital grounds without being seen by the Palestinians. So once again who destroyed parts of gaza by breaching IHL and the Geneva conventions.
