Do you depend on electronic bank payments from the US? Do you rely on a gov't retirement check?

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I've been working for non-US companies for more than twenty years. I don't have those ties - so alot less "skin in the game". Emotionally is a different story - seeing how this affects family back home.

Surprisingly you get used to it. I would happily spend half my time in the tropics if given the chance. Problem with the tropics is the lack of seasons; something I've come to enjoy.
