The Combat Arms (Infantry, Artillery, Armor) is where the Rank and the Promotions are. Why not? It's also where the risk is. An Infantryman is more likely to be hurt than a Finance Clerk.
As long as we fight 'Hollywood Wars' where everybody is well-fed, we have overwhelming superiority and our Soldiers are whisked in and out of combat zones lickity-split, because we have Air Supremacy (A fighter jet catching a bunch of choppers in the open would be like a Lion in a Chicken Coop) and they all get to spend time in the Gym and in the rear with the beer and Movie Nights...... Everybody wants that. Everybody wants to be a hero.
But if we ever get into another major Ground War where our soldiers are all but abandoned in the field, hardly ever see a hot meal, live and sleep in the cold, the rain, the snow, the heat, the jungle or the Polar North.
Where soldiers look more like scarecrows that they do like The Rock or Arnie or Rambo...... Which is what REAL soldiers in REAL Wars look like. Scarecrows. Where you don't take a solid shit for Months, where you're wet and cold or wet and hot 24/7/365 (Or at least for many weeks/months at a time), where you have to take charcoal and mint pills every day to keep from crapping yourself so bad, you dehydrate and die, and where your quarters are a tent thrown up on a mud floor (if you're lucky).... Where Hot Food is when you steal some C-4 from a Claymore to heat your Rations in a Canteen Cup
That's REAL Combat, boys and girls. Not the Hollywood version.
Not only will women not survive those conditions, I personally don't want them in those conditions.
In Pretend Wars in a Pretend Army?
Sure, why not
