Hegseth defends returning Confederate monument to Arlington National Cemetery

Downplaying the inhumanity or importance of slavery is ignorant of history.

Again, the Lost Cause narrative is rewriting history. That's what this statue is about. There's no healing on the statue.
That statue does not honor the dead
It makes excuses for the Confederacy

Yes they were
They had control over their population

A nation built on ensuring slavery lasts forever
A nation where 40 percent of the population was enslaved

They didn't have the control they thought once the war started.

I doubt it would have lasted forever, maybe another 20-30 years before trading partners told them to fix it.

Shame on me? You’re the one who demands we honor racists, segregationists and minimize their evil purposes.
You paint with a broad brush out of ignorance

The south overplayed their hand once Lincoln was elected.

The days of slavery were numbered. 20-30 years seems reasonable with slave owners being compensated for their slaves and slaves gradually emancipated. An Aparteid type arrangement would have replaced it

Instead, they forced a war and slavery ended in four years with no compensation

It was more than violence, it was outright terrorism that liberals put an end to
In some cases, yes

But no more violent than libs protesting the Vietnam War

Most white peacefully accepted equal rights for black people, even though black radicals are still waving the same old bloody shirt

If it would have ended without war, I don't think you would have seen the animosity found after the failure of Reconstruction.

Don't worry Robert E Lee is carved into the largest rock on earth, which 2/3s of it is underground.
They said the only way to remove such a giant carving would be a nuclear bomb.
Education and history may help rid of all the hate ,since what blacks and others did to their own long before America existed is much worse.
While those of us who built this nation divide and fight, other's are coming across the border and taking over.

Thats actually Native American holy ground. Typical.

Wouldn't need a nuke, just Jesus and a sandblaster.

No one is digging up graves. We just aren't going to tolerate rewriting history by racists.

If that makes me a bad person in your eyes, then you're the one who is fucked up.
Events from 150 years ago is all the left has to fuel their anger

The Lost Cause refuses to acknowledge they were wrong.
Do you have any quotes to support that lie?

Of course slavery was wrong

And in spite of Southern bravery one nation under God is better than two

But the left hates all American history including the whites who came before us

15th post
Because in their mind, the south was in the right.

And yet they still lost, admitted they lost, and came back into the fold.

And were welcomed back into the fold by the ones that beat them.

As soon as they were “back into the fold”, they began figuring out how to reinstitute as much white supremacy as possible.

Because they were never wrong.

This monument celebrates that history.

More revisionist history
Integration was met with extreme violence by both white citizens and police

Vietnam protests were not even close to the terrorism faced by Civil Rights protesters
