I have no hard evidence for this but from my HPOV there is a growing sense among Palestinians - perhaps related to the fading support from fellow Arab countries - that provoking Israel is not that best way to achieve their goals.

There is a rational (or pragmatic) side to Abbas and while he can't simply push his peeps to act civilly - he would be viewed as a Zionist puppet and eaten - he can lead by example.

Or maybe it's just the heat.
