Imagine living your life, having children and grandchildren, working the same job for 40 years, and then finally retiring a couple years ago to do whatever this man had planned to do in his golden years. Now the grandkids are being told gramps is a rapist and a murderer, and he will never be free again.

Sad hearing this woman's son speak about his loss, a 13 year old being told his mother was murdered.

Kudos to investigators for finally nabbing this guy.

As long as they preserve that sample from the 80's, they are now really good at reverse engineering who it came from. 35 years later you put your trash on the curb and don't expect investigators to snatch it up at 3:00 AM.

I know, it's great, investigators have so much more to work with.

I am still amazed that investigators held on to DNA samples from the 80's when there was not the testing methods available back then. Those guys are to be commended.

I like how this case was solved, the dirtbag's co-worker secretly collected his DNA, because this guy knew the cops might be trying to collect it.

His defense tried to get it thrown out but the judge allowed it, because the police never asked her to do it.

It really is a modern marvel. Whenever I see things like this my mind immediately wanders back through the centuries wondering how many millions of times people committed heinous acts and went on to live a normal life afterwards was complete impunity.
