He-man Ted Nugent posts pic of huge deer buck he bow-shot

Actually the buck looks kinda puny - maybe 150 pounds. Nice rack though and i guess that's what matters. From the blood stain it looks like he gut-shot the poor thing. Don't like that. Maybe spent hours dying.

Iconic rocker-turned-conservative pundit Ted Nugent took to Facebook to share his version of a perfect Thanksgiving: a photo of a massive buck he brought down with a bow and arrow.

His accompanying text, next to the photo of the multi-point antler kill: “OH LORDY LORDY GLORY GLORY HALLELUJAH! Happy ThanXgiving every damn day in the mystical deer grounds of America ya all! The beast is dead long live the mighty beast!”

Did they charge him extra sedating and putting it in a tiny cage before he murdered it, or did they give him a freebie being a celeb? ;)
I'm guessing
A. You are not familiar with Ted place in TX or MI
B. While high fence hunts are not my cup of tea I hold nothing against those that do. But it's obvious from your post you are clueless as to those preserves

As a side note it is obvious your not very knowledge of white tail deer. High fence preserves are often in excess of 1K acres not a small enclosure you may envision. While you may feel the animals are not able to come and go as the normally would it is not quite true. A whitetails home range is on average 350 acres and given ample water and food they will spend their life on that 3-400 acres. While some deeds home range expands in summer and depending on the doe population a buck may expand his home range during the rut, most stick close to their home range
You cannot deny canned hunts exist, deer are bred in semi-captivity for "hunting", many high-fence hunts are on less than 400 acres, and Ted Nugent has participated in all of these kinds of hunts.

I can't defend anyone who hunts for videos anyway.

Good goin' Ted!!! That'll keep the family fed for quite some time. I've also heard that Nugent donates food to homeless shelters. Perhaps others will benefit from his hunting prowess!
Ted donates a large portion of his kills to the needy as do many hunters. I am lucky enough here to be able to take 8 deer a season do along with my son and wife we have ample opportunity to fill the freezer. Our family goal each year is to donate 3 deer to Hunters Harvest in our state that distributes the meat to needy families. We often donate more but never less than my goal of atleast 3
I won't kill a deer for an anonymous stranger, but, I do try to take one a year for an elderly friend.

My goal each year is to see how many bucks I can let walk to get bigger.

Get some show of his here on one of the obscure cable channels with gun stuff. Have seen deer in the wild. Only difference is I've never felt the urge to murder a beautiful animal. Well, not the ones that go on four legs at any rate.
So I take it you either do not eat burgers, steaks, ham or bacon or is it your ok with the "murder" of animals as long as others do it for you.

So tell us are you a vegetarian or just displaying hypocrisy

Yep I let far more buck walk on my place than I take. I will not shoot unless it's a 4.5 y/o or better. I do supply some elderly neighbors

I have been pleased with hunters harvest in our state is is run through the State Game and Fish. The food is distributed by member churches and non profits

I would donate all the hogs they can pick up, but, I won't touch one.

I have found you really can't freeze deer for long either, so, I just shoot one now and again, take what I can eat fresh,
and supply my old friend so he has sausage all year.

I never said high fence hunts don't exist, I'm not a fan of them. But in the other hand I own prime deer land and have no need to pay to hunt. But some do pay to hunt and others can make a profit. Isn't capitalism great

Ted was hunting from an early age just like many of us, long before videos
Like many folks he found a way To make a dollar off his passion or hobby. Isn't capitalism great

Deer if processed and put up properly will last up to a year in the freezer, how much longer I don't know. I do all my own processing so I know it's done right. I can serve you a burger or back strap taken a few days ago beside one in the freezer 7-8 months and you won't know the difference

But like I said a lot of it has to do with how the deer was handled after the shot and how it was processed and stored

According to my wife's old boss (hunter) and his brother (butcher), you can keep good venison for about 18 months IF done right: that is, dressed ASAP, vacuum-packed, and deep-frozen to 10-15 below zero. For meat where you don't care about toughness (sausage, stew, chili), it will be fine for 2 years.

That's probably right. Mine never last that long we are usually running out or real low in September before the season starts in Oct.
He is right it's all about how it's processed. Mine is usually dressed within an hour of hitting the ground then I let the meat age for 5-7 days before I process it. After cutting and grinding it's all vacuume sealed and in the deep freeze.

I better let you know I'm a bow hunter. So I took offense to the thread right from the get go. Ted inspired me to go beyond the gun. Jut like to know where you get off on mocking his kill.

He gut-shot it, you fool You one of those loonies who likes to see animals suffer.?

Horse shit son, it's obvious your clueless on the subject. Now run along and play and let the grown ups discuss deer hunting

You ignorant jackass. 350 acres is not even a square mile. Deer are great roamers and think nothing of traveling 10 miles to get better feed.

They don't distribute it, you fool. They keep it for themselves or sell it.

I'll tell you what stupid ass go do the research on a deers home range. After you have educated yourself I'll allow you to sit at the big boy table and discuss I have read more studies on deer habitat than you knew existed.

No ass lick I have seen first hand the folks that Benifit from this program

When I was 13 or 14 bowhunting swamps around Houghton Lake, Michigan.....hit a buck pretty good with a Bear broadhead with bleeders.....it took off....no tracking snow so I had to keep him in sight....dropped my compass during the chase....lost hm and I was lost....no landmarks, heavy cloud cover....I gotta admit I was FREAKED about being lost out there with night coming on.

Dead_Stream_Swamp_MI.jpg

Then I remembered I had the WHISTLE my Pop gave me for just this kind of situation....started tooting it...nothing....backtracked as best I could....tooted a few more times.....then I heard his and walked toward it. WHEW! I didn't have to spend the night out there. Felt like shit about losing the deer but I'm sure something out there enjoyed the meat.
