Jimmy Carter and Guinea worm disease: Here's a look back at his decades of work to eradicate it
As GPB looks back on the work of Georgia native and 39th U.S. President Jimmy Carter, one of his most impactful accomplishments is the eradication campaign to combat Dracunculiasis, best known as Guinea worm disease.

"Georgians and people around the world will celebrate former President Jimmy Carter's 99th birthday on Oct. 1, 2023. New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof talks with GPB about former President Jimmy Carter's efforts to eradicate Guinea worm disease — and what he calls Carter's "vaulted ambitions." Guinea worm is a biblical disease dating back 3,000 years, with evidence of the infection found in an Egyptian mummy from 1000 B.C. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the establishment of water treatment facilities eliminated most of the disease worldwide. Unfortunately, the disease remained in developing regions of Asia and Africa with poor water quality, leading to many cases rising in those areas in modern eras."
People act like Jimmy Carter's time as ex-president is so great and that we are supposed to be impressed that he is 99 years old and still married to that old hag, Rosalind... is something that is supposed to be celebrated?? (the guy didn't even fuck any porn stars and get caught, what a loser) - building homes for poor people and now, fighting some 3rd world disease that only kills kids we don't give a damn about..why is he seen as some great ex-president because of this? He doesn't even troll people on Twitter or post cool memes, so how is he great?
Matter of fact, if you look at all of the ex presidents, none of them have done anything great during their time out of office....Bush, for the damage he caused this world, who gives a fuck that he goes around painting shitting portraits..Bill Clinton, his Clinton foundation is the single most corrupt charity organization in human history, and let's not talk about his child sex trafficking ring that he runs with another ex-president, Obama..who is technically, still president....none of them are good ex-presidents, you can say that Carter is better than those guys, but he pales in comparison to the good Trump has done since he has been a former president.
Has selfless dedication and charitable actions have brought joy to many in the form of his many rallies, the happiness he brings when he makes fun of old fags getting hit with hammers, the way he trolls fat and handicapped people has done far more to heal our nation than Carter did by building some shacks for some ghetto welfare queens or eradicating some disease, what about the eradication of COVID by Trump's vaccine (which is also an evil toxin meant to kill Christians and COVID isn't really a big deal anyway) - and the fact that Trump has brick by brick brought down the deep state since he has been out of office, is probably the single greatest thing ever done by an ex president....so why doesn't he get the respect he deserves from the rest of us?
