When will the adults take back the Republican Party? This board seems to be mostly populated by Libertarians, Democrats and anti Democrats; few admit to being a Republican and even the Tea Party types eschew the GOP.

Is this a reflection on the 'leadership' (Boehner and McConnell) and once they have been disposed of the Republican Party will once again have wide appeal? Is it a reflection of a few extreme members who garner too much publicity? Is it a reflection of too little debate within the party and a general intolerance of a diversity of opinions? Or has the GOP more room to fall?

Or if you're a Republican, what is you opinion on the health of the GOP? Do you believe the GOP will survive if it loses seats in 2014 and the White House in 2016? And finally, who will be the candidate(s) to oppose the Democratic Party's Standard Bearer in 2016?

no, but the Democrat-progressive party can't get much lower..

they have nothing left to offer but hate and fearmongering and worrying over the other party instead of cleaning the shit up in their own yard..

you people put a damn Junior Senator in as President and have to nerve to question the other parties LEADERS..

It's pretty ridiculous to think the Republican party has his rock bottom. Politics, like everything in life, goes in cycles. I recall the same kind of talk in 1988 after Reagan's successful run and after George H Bush was elected. It didn't seem like a Democrat would ever take the office again. But along came Bill Clinton in 1992.

No one party in this country will ever remain in power indefinately. It's just how the system is built.

The GOP has a pretty decent shot in 2016 with Marco Rubio, Chris Christy and a few others sitting in waiting. If Obama's approval rating continues to decline it's very possible the GOP could retake he White House in 2016.

Marco Rubio, I fear, has destroyed his chances with his support for illegal immigration and that he made a disastrous mistake in saying one thing in english, and the exact opposite in spanish. Had he not said, in spanish, that there would be no border security until there was full legalization he would not be in the position that he's in.

Chris Christie is the most popular republican among democrats. Democrats don't get to choose the republican candidate.

Republicans have a better chance with Rand Paul. Paul is positioning himself as a real revolutionary and will draw from his father's support.

Just to humor you, what Democratic rhetoric do you consider to be hate and fear?

As for my 'questioning' of other party leaders I suspect I'm not alone. Those who watched the Republican Presidential Debates last summer were 'amazed'; every week a new leader fell from grace with foot in mouth disease.

I recall how the Democratic Party remade itself after Nixon's victory in 1968; and how the GOP did after the Nixon debacle. So I agree in principle with your point. However, the Republican Party will need to mend itself now and seems to have no intention of doing so.

How can any GOP candidate win when so many in his/her party support ideas and hold ideologies which a vast middle/moderate population of American voters reject?

Hate and fearmongering? Like comparing the first lady to Aunt Jemima? Got it.
