loopholes apply to everyone not just the rich,,I’d be all for a flat income tax rate if the government would adopt a zero-tolerance policy for loopholes for the rich.

Yes, but obviously those who can hire teams of tax lawyers are able to use them the most.loopholes apply to everyone not just the rich,,
that would depend on what youre calling a loophole,, is a cost for supplies a loophole??Yes, but obviously those who can hire teams of tax lawyers are able to use them the most.
Zero tolerance for all loopholes. Everybody pays the exact same percentage, no exceptions
Actually the rich pay the vast majority of the taxes? Otis Mayfield how much of my hard earned money is someone else entitled to?
The rich can hire accountants who'll make sure the rich don't have to pay taxes.
its not about percentage of income unless youre a socialist,,They pay the vast majority if you look at the dollars paid. If you look at percentage of income, they pay far less than many middle class and upper middle class.
its not about percentage of income unless youre a socialist,,
taxs are for paying the bills of the country not to punish people for being successful,,
well the rich do pay a higher percentage so whats your issue??How is it punishment if everyone pays the same percentage of their income?
well the rich do pay a higher percentage so whats your issue??
my issue is half the population pay little to nothing and a lot of them get back more than they put in,,
I agree with that,,So put in a flat tax and every person pays the same percentage.
I agree with that,,
but right now we are discussing the current situation,,
Absolute dollars is what matter not %s IMO.They pay the vast majority if you look at the dollars paid. If you look at percentage of income, they pay far less than many middle class and upper middle class.
I was refering to your claim which is incorrect,, the rich are in a higher tax bracket and therefor pay not only a higher percentage but a higher dollar amount,,The topic has included several things, including a flat tax.
I remember an article last year that discussed Warren Buffet paying a lower percentage of his income than his staff did.
on another thought,, doesnt capital gains apply to poor people too??The topic has included several things, including a flat tax.

Tax code is established by law. IRS can’t really simply it. Congress and the president can.Taxes are about power.
how do you know it was a lie??Tax code is established by law. IRS can’t really simply it. Congress and the president can.
Trump talked about simplifying it, but that was a lie.
Poor people don't need accountants because they don't pay taxes.
Anyone can hire an accountant. That isn't a privilege reserved for rich folks.
Rich people pay taxes. Stop saying they don't.
i could see a sliding flat tax rate but yea, needs to simply be "you made / you pay" and end all the games people play in the middle. would save a ton in resources and money to not have to figure it out every year. Our current tax code is a complete mess. We in the US spend $500 billion on tax compliance every year. That is not what we pay in taxes. That is what we pay in figuring out the clusterfuck of a tax code.
I would much prefer to see the Fair Tax Act passed. Or at least a flat tax. Simplify it so that everyone pays their share.
But the richest can afford to rent a senator to avoid that.
It wasn't only democrats who wrote the tax codes.......plus they used special ink made from lobbying cash.Let me get this straight. You are bitching because the Democrats (whom you despise) have not changed the tax code, so the highest income earners pay more? Does that mean you want them to effect that change?
Elon Musk shared how much he paid.
- The top 1 percent paid a greater share of individual income taxes (38.5 percent) than the bottom 90 percent combined (29.9 percent).
