Harvard President Says Trump's Attacks Are 'Perplexing'

‘Harvard President Alan Garber said the federal funding cuts the Trump administration has ordered for the university do little to advance Donald Trump’s purported goal of fighting antisemitism, calling the approach “perplexing.” In an interview with NPR’s “Morning Edition” released Monday, Garber argued that the decision to target Harvard will hurt Americans. “What is perplexing is the measures that they have taken to address these [issues] ... don’t even hit the same people that they believe are causing the problems,” Garber said.

“Why cut off research funding?” he asked. “Sure, it hurts Harvard, but it hurts the country because after all, the research funding is not a gift. The research funding is given to universities and other research institutions to carry out work — research work — that the federal government designates as high-priority work. It is work that they want done.”’

It’s not really perplexing – Trump has consistently worked to harm America and Americans, such as the unwarranted attacks on Harvard and other universities.

And these ham-fisted attacks have nothing to do with combating antisemitism; rather, they seek to silence universities that promote facts and the truth Trump fears, undermining his authoritarian, despotic regime.

Late breaking story: Harvard guy not too bright

How does pulling federal funding from a private institution with a $53 Billion annual endowment hurt America? Research? Is Harvard the only institution in the US that is able to conduct research?

Perhaps the President of Harvard should read his own university's research:

According to one estimate, as much as 85 percent of research may be wasteful, in the sense that it fails to advance scientific understanding or provide a social return on the resources invested. [4]

What does Harvard do with the results of their R&D? Do they hand it over to the government? Or corporations? Or do they sell the information?
