The US military can not deployed against US citizens without an order from the president or the congress which never came.

In fact, after Trump's rally telling the crowd to go to capital, Trump did nothing. His son tells the president, he must act and Trump does nothing. The only communication from Trump is to his VP condemning him for not refusing to stop the Senate approval of the of delegates. The National Guard stands ready for 4 hours and Trump does nothing. Finally, it is the Sec. of Defense, not Trump who orders in the Nation Guard. The Guard arrived nearly 5 hours after the break-in.

Just about everyone in Trump's staff was doing something except the one person who needed to act. In fact, the evidence that will be presented at Trump's trial, if it every happen will show that Trump's staff repeatedly tried to get him to act but failed.

He may have met with Pentagon officials but without a direct order from the president to engage American citizens, the military can not act and Trump gave no such order. The Posse Comitatus Act puts restriction on the president's use of the US of military within the US. There is no such limitation on the National Guard.

The Secretary of Homeland Security placed the FBI and Secret Service on standby. The Secretary of Defense puts the National Guard on standby. Trump returns to the White House and spends over 4 hours watching Fox News alone in his dining room, speaking with his top supporters about the issue. Trump's staff, family, congressmen pleaded with him to call an end to riot, yet for hours he refuses to act. What lawsuits?
Trump has been been found guilt of numerous felonies in the New York criminal case. Sentencing is scheduled in Nov. after the election. He has been found guilty in civil court of the falsifying loan documents and the in the molestation case. Awards have been granted to the plaintiffs.

The Jan 6th criminal trial against Trump has been delayed till after the election. The charges remain the same.

The classified document case which was initially dismissed by a Florida judge appointed by Trump has been resurrected. Charges remain the same and trial will be scheduled after the election.

The Georgia case is tied up in state courts with no trial in sight.

If Trump is elected, he will probably be able to stop the federal cases from going to court. If he loses he will go to trial. In other words, it's the Whitehouse or the Big House for Trump.

This might explain Trump's outlandish promises. He has to win this election. Trump will never have to answer for any of his broken election promises. However, If Harris wins, she will likely run again and her broken promises will come back to haunt her. I think this is why she has been reluctant to make open ended outlandish promises as we are hearing from Trump.
