Technically the anniversary occurred several days ago as it is linked to the night before the Jewish Passover, but alas we are stuck with imperfect dates in the Christian world.
The night before Passover when Jesus has the Last Supper (Seder which is practiced today), had Communion, washed the feet of his followers, and Judas left the Seder to turn in Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane which is just down the hill from the walls of Jerusalem.
Here Jesus was arrested that night. Some of these olive trees are direct children of the trees that were there that night:
