This may allow Christians to celebrate along with Jews perhaps? Judeo-Christian values are strengthened when the followers of these peaceful religions come together in common goal and celebration.

We don’t celebrate Christmas with Christ deniers.
As religious observances, comparing Christmas to Hanukkah is like comparing an elephant to a mouse. Hanukkah was a minor Jewish holiday that was elevated to provide an alternative basis for exchanging gifts in December. As such, it is more comparable to secular holiday celebrations involving Santa Claus, etc. Passover would be a more apt comparison to Christmas, but it isn't observed at the same time of year.

To expand on that, it was elevated to a gift-giving holiday so that small Jewish children would not resent that their Christian friends got presents and they didn’t.

You are correct that it is a minor holiday. Full work is allowed, no religious services to attend.

i have celebrated Hanukkah in Germany several times together with the local Jewish community. It was always impressive when the candles were lit.
