The hammerhead worm is a predatory land animal with a long, narrow body and an unusual head shaped like a half moon. They are native to tropical and subtropical regions but have become invasive worldwide. It's believed the planarians were accidentally transported and distributed on rooted horticultural plants.

The length of this flatworm is between 5 cm to 20 cm. In some species, they can even grow up to 50 cm. One of the interesting features of this worm is, they have an amazing ability to regenerate missing body parts. If they are cut into pieces, each piece generally regenerates tissue and becomes a complete organism. Habitat of flatworms is mainly in the soil as they need a moist environment to live. Frequently, they can be seen on top of the soil. This species are carnivores, known to prey on earthworms, small insects, larvae, and also each other.
