In an article published July 16, 2013 on Felesteen.ps, a website affiliated with Hamas, Hamas Refugee Affairs Department head Dr 'Issam 'Adwan argued that Hamas had the right to attack Israeli embassies and interests as well as senior Israeli officials anywhere in the world. He added that the resistance is also entitled to harm the interests of Israel's allies, headed by the U.S.

"The Palestinian resistance is entitled to expand and diversify its means and tools of resistance; this is a legitimate resistance that defends a defenseless people that has fallen under an oppressive occupation which is supported by the global forces of evil. No one has the right to condemn the resistance for any of the methods that it adopts (Including hurting unarmed civilians, of course), because it knows better than everyone else what is good for it and for its noble objectives (Ha!).

"The resistance may find itself forced to attack the enemy's interests and senior officials outside the occupied territory(Targeting innocent civilians with no connection to this conflict? Wow, some freedom fighters. Hezbollah, anyone?).It is incumbent upon the honorable countries to stand alongside the occupied Palestinian people and assist it in removing the obstacles that stand in its way. By doing so, they [will be acting] in accordance with the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination, and in accordance with international decisions condemning the occupation and encouraging resistance to it by all means."

Hamas may think it has the "right" but in doing so, it's shooting itself in the foot and doing a diservice to the people it claims to represent.

This does not work in favor of the Palestinian people as a whole. While it is in keeping with the Preamble of The Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism of April 1998, it is diametrically opposed to the International Community's concept as expressed by the UN Secretary General.

While it renews the threat against both Israel and America, it also implies a veiled threat against the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

"The Palestinian resistance requires the Palestinian people to remain united under the resistance banner, and it [the resistance] has the right to smite with an iron fist any hand that seeks to rip apart the people's unity and [cause it to] abandon its rights. It must also pursue the agents of the occupation wherever they may be, even outside Palestine, because leaving them in peace damages the Palestinian cause and places the Palestinian people, its leadership, and its resistance in grave danger."

Coupled with the announced position that:

If I were PA President Mahmoud Abbas, I would consider this a direct threat; and in direct contravention to the "right of self-determination."

It will be interesting to see who picks a fight with who; an outbreak of hostilities between Hamas and Fatah. Yes, interesting. Consider the possibilities!

Either the Palestinian People want to pursue the Hamas protocol of terrorism and insurgency, or they want to follow West Bank-based Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas in the pursuit of Peace Talks and Negotiation. But in any event, the US and Israel must wait and see who speaks for the Palestinian.

Either President Mahmud Abbas bows to Hamas, or the other way around. But let's see who falls and deal with the surviving regime accordingly. But in the end, we will see, as we discussed in the other thread, what the character of the Palestinian is and what kind of people they are.

But in any event, the US and Israel must wait and see who speaks for the Palestinian.

Either President Mahmud Abbas bows to Hamas, or the other way around. But let's see who falls and deal with the surviving regime accordingly. But in the end, we will see, as we discussed in the other thread, what the character of the Palestinian is and what kind of people they are.

The "character" of the Palestinian people was discovered a long time ago. That is, if you consider this group of invading Arabs from neighboring Arab states who decided to call themselves "Palestinians" as of 1967, a people.

President Mahmud Abbas has two choices. Either he will proceed with the talks, or he will fold his hand and find a way to abort the peace talks. It will be obvious that Hamas is the real leadership behind the Palestinian People. President Mahmud Abbas will be the Emperor with no clothes.

If the Palestinian People are really interested in peace, then the decision will go in favor of Fatah and the Abbas Regime. If the Palestinians are really interested in the continuation of the conflict, then the decision will follow the Hamas edicts and we will know that Fatah is defunct as a leadership organization. The whole world will see, as of this date that the Palestinian is still in favor of the war option - a steadfast position since 1947. It will then justify the continued quarantine of both the West Bank and Gaza Strip as a Machiavellian regime that considers itself justified in any action it chooses; Above the Rule of Law:

DECLARATION ON PRINCIPLES OF INTERNATIONAL LAW said:
The principle that States shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State, or in any other manner inconsistent with the purposes of the United Nations,

If they oppose each other, then it is better that Fatah and Hamas fight each other than fight Israel. If Hamas holds true to their word, they will attempt a strike against the Fatah and maybe even assassinate President Mahmud Abbas (he is not that brave and will either fold his card or run - maybe both). Fatah will either collapse as a viable organization, or it will standup against Hamas. If Hamas doesn't hold to its word, then it become the lame duck.

Once Hamas makes the first move, then yes, it is a declaration of war (even though technically Israel is still at war with Hamas), and Israel should consider that to be an escalation of the war and act accordingly.

Have you looked at a map of the region? Just where are you going to put it? The only way it will work is to have some kind of autonomous Palestinian run region in the West Bank that allows the settlers to live there without being attacked, much like Kurdistan in Iraq, and then another one in Gaza, of course AFTER all the Islamic nutjobs are removed from power there. But to have Gaza and West Bank as one state connected by a narrow strip crossing over the middle of Israel is insanity that will never work nor will the Israelis ever accept it.

And do you think the Palestinians will ever accept anything that doesn't usher the destruction of Israel? You're kidding yourself.
