Hamas' rule is illegitimate

Tell that to Abbas. He is the the 10th year of a four year term.

So now its abbas' fault hamas is refusing elections? :cuckoo:

Given the level of protection some of these assholes are providing hamas, I'm of mind to notify the federal authorities; I'd be curious to see if they were willing to investigate these people in a thorough fashion to see what they were up to, especially since these turds are defending a group labeled as a terrorist one by the US State department.

He will not step down and allow the president to call for elections.

Sure, elections are called by the president. Abass's term in office expired January 9, 2009. He refuses to step down and stays in power with the help of Israel along with US money, weapons and political cover. The speaker of parliament is to temporarily assume the office of president and call for elections within 60 days. Abbas will bot allow that to happen.

The government (the prime minister and his cabinet) has no set term limit. They are to serve until a new government is confirmed by parliament. This is similar to the US where presidential appointments require senate approval.

The last legally constituted government in Palestine is the unity government of March 2007. No government since then has received the approval of parliament.

The government has no term limit? What nonsense, it has no term limit once it decided people have no right to vote or be voted for. In all normal states you don't decide to step down or have elections, you do it because THAT is HOW THINGS WORK.

The parliament? they should have the approval of the PEOPLE, duh!:eusa_hand:

Which hamas could bring to an end anytime they wanted by calling for an election, isn't that right tinny. And then hamas would either be the popular choice or out on the streets, with the new government breathing down their necks.

How can he refuse when the P.A. votes for an election. But while hanas refuses to hold elections they are illegal under the terms of the Oslo accords.
