Yes!! Finally somebody said it!! Whether or not you choose to celebrate Halloween is between you and God not some random strangers over the Internet. Same thing with watching scary movies and Harry Potter.

Why am I posting this here then if I don't care what ya'all say? To prove that I'm not alone in this thinking and that there are even churches who participate in trick-or-treating or trunk-or-treating as she puts it. Plus I know we have mudwhistle on here who is another Christian Harry Potter/Halloween/scary movie fan.

So if you feel convicted in celebrating Halloween don't, but just because you feel convicted with it doesn't mean all Christians do. Now since this thread is posted in zone 1, I trust we can all have a civil discussion without flaming even to all those who disagree with this statement as feel free to voice your opinion but please note you won't be changing mine.

This is what I meant when you said you don't justify when you're wrong. You certainly do. SAME EXCUSES THE PRO ABORTS USE. Any celebration of satanism is opposition to God.

How is it Satanism to carve pumpkins, get dressed up, go to parties, eat candy, and go on hayrides? No offense but sometimes you can be delusional. 🙄

A real Christian would despise the Catholic Church who introduced this pagan ritual to "Christianity". True Christians have nothing to do with satanism

Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated over 2,000 years ago to mark the end of harvest and the start of winter. The Celts believed the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest during Samhain, and spirits would roam the earth. To ward off evil spirits, they wore costumes and lit bonfires. In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1st as a day to honor saints, and All Saints Day incorporated some Samhain traditions.

This is the twenty-first century already though. Halloween isn't at all like it used to be.

The Witches High Holy Day

association with witchcraft stems from its Samhain origins, a Celtic festival where the veil between the living and dead was believed to thin, allowing communication with spirits and ancestors. For modern witches and Wiccans, this time is Samhain Eve, a significant sabbat for honoring the dead, reflecting on life, performing rituals, and celebrating the cycles of nature, rather than the commercialized "trick-or-treating" event. The connection to "frightening" witches in the 19th century helped solidify the entanglement of occult themes with the holiday, leading to dressing as witches for protection or to "bribe" spirits.

The Church of SATAN'S High Holy Day

The Church of Satan considers Halloween a high holiday, the most important one of the year next to an individual's birthday. According to the founder, Anton LaVey, the holiday celebrates the "outsider" and the inner darkness that people explore by wearing costumes. Many members find the celebration empowering, allowing them to delve into their fantasies and inner consciousness, sometimes even getting married in a Satanic ceremony

In other news .. I'm sorry I just realized now that I posted the wrong link for my OP so I just reported it and I'm hoping that one of the staff members can change it. Thank you The Irish Ram for liking my OP otherwise I wouldn't have realized it.

Witches celebrate Halloween, also known as Samhain, by honoring their ancestors, performing divination and scrying, lighting bonfires and candles for transformation, and creating altars for the deceased. Rituals include creating ancestral altars, scrying with dark surfaces, making offerings on graves, and engaging in magical cooking or potion-making with seasonal ingredients. Other traditions involve feasting, leaving an empty place setting for departed loved ones, and dressing in costumes to honor the dead and ward off spirits.

Invite the Spirits on Halloween:

What can a witch do on Halloween?

You can begin your evening by communing with your departed loved ones through the fire. Invite friends and family to join you to create a welcoming space for the deceased, hold hands around the fire and embrace its warmth. You may also sing and dance, inviting the spirits to celebrate too.
