Hakeem Jeffries Invokes Civil War Rhetoric, Suggests Republicans Are the Party of ‘Traitors’

Here in Chicago they use section 8 housing to get cheap rent. They get rates at what they make. But they must pay into the rent even though they receive funding.
Here, section 8 housing is generally unavailable. Goes to about 5% of those who apply.

Tampa, Florida.
OK. I have some options you might want to explore.

1) Have you contacted the Tampa Housing Authority? If you are elderly and low-income, they might have some guidance.

2) Another option, which I think would be wise for a senior who doesn’t have even a few thousand dollars in emergency savings, would be to rent a 2-bedroom with someone in similar circumstances. The low-income rent is around $1200, bringing down your share to around $600.

Below is one example (of many). And I know you probably don’t want to share, but you really do need an emergency fund. If you share for just two years, saving $400 a month compared to what you pay now, you would have an emergency fund of almost $10,000.

Please take my suggestions in the spirit they are offered.

Yeah, but they still lay very little.

again, it's up to the facility on how much they want from section 8 money. There are a percentage of apartments that are available for section 8 help.

I know, but I’m trying to offer some suggestions to Protectionist. He might be able to find a place less than the $1000 he pays now.

If it were me, and I had NO emergency savings, I would share an apartment to bring my cost down so I could build up some savings. Really, at the minimum, he should have 3 months’ worth.

Take me, for example. My basic expenses are $4000 a month, but I get $2400 in SS and another $600 in an annuity, after taxes. That means I need, at the minimum, to supplement $1000 a month from savings. I need $3000. And thats a rock-bottom minimum.

The democrats have reached peak absurdity and peak melting temperature.

They’ve become “The Party of Wingnuts” During their junior high school styled “sit in”, a quote from US Grant was stolen about “patriots and traitors”.

Naturally, the democrats don’t see themselves as traitors as their history of lawlessness and traitorous acts escapes them.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), during a ridiculous "sit-in" on the steps of the Capitol, invoked Civil War-era rhetoric to portray Democrats as "patriots" and the Republican party as "traitors."

Rev. William Barber joined the exercise in futility. He discussed putting “principles over party," triggering Jeffries to recall an old quote by President Ulysses S. Grant at the onset of the Civil War.

“Reminds me of a letter that Ulysses Grant was said to have sent at the start of the Civil War,” Jeffries said.

"At that moment of great turmoil in the country, the country literally tearing itself apart," he set the scene before adding, "What Grant said is, 'There are but two parties in America right now - Patriots and traitors."
The parties are not traitors, just yellow cowards.

Until you get old enough to need medical, and it costs a lot more at eighty than sixty, thank God I am a veteran and can go to the VA.
