This is what we had. Instead of layering it I mixed everything up and dumped it in the casserole dish and baked it. Wife,Myself and my father loved it. Kids and my mother didn't like it at all.

Back when I was Civ War reenacting one of the guys I knew played both Reb and Yank, he was northern born but southern raised. One morning he prepared grits for his Yankee unit and didn't tell them what it was, they all were asking for milk and/or syrup, thought is was cream of wheat...... He never told them what it was.....

Holy shi... Apple Pie filling plus 1 cup of sugar?
This is actually nothing new...just modified.
It is essentially a sweet mince pork pie called a FLampoyntes. An old traditional Christmas dinner in old England. (Hey...I know food)
