Gun ownership probable cause to for search and seizure?

There's nothing funnier to me than watching you macho, gun-toting, freedom loving and PC-hating middle American conservatives whine on the internet that the cops aren't fair.

Didn't you guys beat up hippies for saying that, back in the day?

you are an idiot or just pretend to be?

He's all for civil rights violations when it's someone else's civil rights.

That's not what happened.

He asked the wife if the gun was in the car, and she said that it might be in the glove box or the center console.

That's why the car was searched - because the husband and the wife's stories didn't match.

Yep and you got to remove the door panels to get to the glove box and center console.

The fact that the stories didn't match was probable cause to search the car.

If you don't like it, try to change the laws. Don't whine about cops doing their jobs.

Stories matched entirely.

He said he left it at home.

She said she was scared of it and didn't know if could be in the glove box or center console (because after all that is where law abiding people store their guns.)

So they take all the door panels, empty the car and search everyone.

Why stop there...how bout some rectal exams, enemas and a colonoscopy ?

If NJ is using reciprocity of CCW as a means of probable cause that is beyond fucked up. (Which they must how else would they know he owned a gun?)

Fuck Chris Christie.

The Dingle Berries never cease to amaze.

The low life motherfucker approves of stormtrooper using the fact that Mr. Filippidis, is licensed to carry a concealed firearm as probable cause to harrass him and his family.

That's why the car was searched - because the husband and the wife's stories didn't match.

Let's start with, he had no probable cause to stop the car to begin with. Second it is not against the law to own a gun. Third there was no reason to think he had a loaded gun in the car. Fourth even if he did he didnt need to be treated like a criminal.
Fucking commie state. Screw them.

1. We don't know if he did or not, the article left those details out.

2. No shit. What does that have to do with anything?

3. Of course there was - he ran the ID, and saw that he had a CC permit.

4. Even if your gun is legal, a cop is going to make sure it's secure when pulling you over. That's common sense.

Are you sure this isn't a profiling case?
From the sound of their names, the family could have been suspect because
they were foreign looking.

Some of these families are more sensitive when officers treat them this way. It is scarier than my friends who are not as intimidated by officers but feel they're doing their job.

Some of it is cultural perception, on both sides, the officer and the people questioned.

They were Greek. Probably 3rd or 4th generation. How many terrorist attacks have been committed by Greeks? How much crime is done by middle class middle aged Greek men?

Um...

This happened in Maryland, not New Jersey.

The wife stating that the gun was in the in car is what prompted, and justified, the search.

Since when is simply owning a gun justification to continue a detention in so that the police can search for the gun?

It's not, and that's not what happened.

"Simply owning a gun" has nothing to do with this.

The fact that the wife said the gun was in the car is.

He had no business asking in the first place.

Generally to do a stop and search you need probable cause that a crime has been or is about to be committed. What was the officer's PC?
I've been stopped several times for tags etc and the subject of my gun never came up. Of course I live ina free state, not some commie shithole like MD.

So? Fuck Chris Christie anyway. NJ is actually worse than MD on guns.

Ok then.

Fuck Maryland with Chris Christie.

I'm no fan of Chris Christie, nor of the state of New Jersey.

But seriously, if you can't be bothered to even read the headline of the story before commenting...

it doesn't fucking matter whether the gun is the glove compartment, taped to his forehead, or dangling from the car mirror.

He has a right to life and to defend the same.

Your cartoonish view of "rights" aside, the law is the law.

Don't like it? Fight to change it, or break it.

But if you break it, the consequences of that are on you, not the cops.

Your fucktard view that a proviso which restricts our right to defend our lives is law is incomprehensible.

If it was up to people like you the war of independence would have never occurred and we would still be a British Colony.

An Unconstitutional law is no law.

Of course he did. That information comes up when a cop runs a license.

Let me say this a little more slowly so that you can get it through your thick skull.

HUH?

"Ten minutes later he’s back, and he wants John out of the Expedition. Retreating to the space between the SUV and the unmarked car, the officer orders John to hook his thumbs behind his back and spread his feet. “You own a gun,” the officer says. “Where is it?”

Explain --using non nazistic language - WHY THE FUCK WAS NECESSARY AT THAT POINT IN TIME TO ASK HIM OUT OF THE CAR?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

“I know the laws and I know the rules,” Filippidis says. There are, after all, ways gun owners can travel legally with firearms through hostile states. “But I just think it’s a better idea to leave it home.”

Face red, eyes shining, John pounds his knees. “And he wants to put me in jail. He wants to put me in jail. For no reason. He wants to take my wife and children away and put me in jail. In America, how does such a thing happen? ... And after all that, he didn’t even write me a ticket.”

I'm starting to think liberals are really setting themselves up badly. Gun ownership is going to be the next civil rights movement.

Posting in a big font makes you look like a kindergartener throwing a tantrum. It doesn't make you look impressive, or intimidating. It just makes you look like a histrionic fool.

In terms of your question - I have no idea. I wasn't there.

Neither were you, and pretending that you have some sort of comprehensive understanding of the situation based on a short Op-Ed from the Tampa Tribune.

Bullshit.

We are not going to leave it to lily pads , such as yourself, to fight tyranny.

You come across as not having 1 milliliter of testosterone on board.

Jackson: Gun owner unarmed, unwelcome in Maryland

their name is GREEK in origin, for goodness gracious.

No doubt, the Maryland authorities are making it a priority to profile Greeks, in order to combat the major Greek mafias active in the state.
