An incredible plankton bloom takes place in the Gulf of Thailand. The plankton blocks the sunlight and consumes the oxygen, thus kills other forms of life.

"Marine scientists say some areas in the Gulf of Thailand have more than 10 times the normal amount of plankton, turning the water a bright green and killing off marine life."

I imagine that gulf is loaded with all kinds of pesticides and other runoff that created that.
