Apparently the little timid haberdasher with the high school education thought it would be worth it when he sent Troops to Korea on an executive order and his hand picked old WW1 general may have had some senior citizen issues when he all but invited China and Russia into the war. Bill Clinton downplayed the numbers but it seems that we lost about 50,000 in the three years of Truman's mismanaged war. Today President has China on our side instead of shooting at us and with America's air superiority and allies the war would be over in a week.
