China and India are union countries? Ever looked at the government controlled unions in china...wake up...
Go back and read what I wrote. We didn't lose to China and India. We lost to Germany and Japan. Funny thing, THOSE countries are still doing okay despite competition from India and China.
They have unions. They have socialized medicine. They have governments making a concerted effort to reduce carbon emissions.
Our quality dropped because we couldn't compete...unions are to blame for the rust belt..
Um, no, greed in the corner office was.
You take a look at when we lost our edge, it wasn't because the union guys made too much.
It was when the guys in the Corner offices (You know, the ones whose balls you lick on a daily basis) decided to build crap like the Pinto, the Chevette, the Gremlin, etc.
While the Germans and Japanese built QUALITY economy cars, Detroit built "The Barbecue that Seats Four" (AKA The Pinto).
You see, this is what you don't get. The union guys put together what the guys in the Corner Office signed off on.
Now, of course, it's a lot more complicated than the broad stroke I just outlined. Automation played a large role in eliminating those jobs. So did the fact that those socialist countries (India and China as well as Germany and Japan) invested in education and infrastructure while Ronnie Ray-Gun was giving tax cuts to Billionaires.
But you know what didn't happen? We didn't lose because to a country that did what you Wingnuts say we should do.
We lost because we did EXACTLY because they did what you wingnuts said we should do. We got rid of the middle class, we gave tax cuts to rich cocksuckers who gave nothing back, and we didn't invest in infrastructure and education.
In short, we went in the wrong direction.
